The symposium held at the Louvre in October 1994, recalled in these acts, provides evidence that there was, and still is, room for study, reflection and research. Both volumes include, in addition to the thirty or so lectures by experts from many countries, several studies which could not be discussed in the fully packed days of the symposium: the curtain is lifted on his personality, the places he visited, the collectors of his works, and so on.
