Actually we don’t have much information about this painting. Acquired before 1683 by Louis XIV, this work was realized circa 1627 according to Jacques Thuillier and Anthony Blunt, a bit later for Denis Mahon and Pierre Rosenberg.
You’ll find further information in the catalogue of the Grand Palais 1994-1995 exhibition by Pierre Rosenberg (pages 193-194).
Is there any information on who this was made for? Is there any information on the history of this piece at all? I can’t find anything online and I can’t even find this in the Louvre’s database.
